Millennium Goal #2: Primary Education

I chose the second goal of the Millennium Development Goals because it has the do with primary school and as I said in my last blog post I had a passion for teaching elementary students. So of course I was going to pick the goal that had to do educating the kids around the world.

The major goal, of course, is to get kids into school. Some of the goals to achieve the grand goal are to build more schools so it is easier for the kids to come to school. The next goal is teach the kids how to read and write. Millennium says, “Even after four years of primary schooling, as many as 250 million children cannot read and write, worldwide…….Going to school is not enough; improving learning is critical.” Next, they want try and stop kids from leaving school early. Some places that have been successful in these goals are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Brazil, Guatemala, and the United Republic of Tanzania. Most of these places are giving the kids money to come to school somewhere different than where they normally live.

ACHIEVE UNIVERSAL PRIMARY EDUCATION
I think this is a really cool idea. Education helps with being successful in life and in the worl we live in today. All it takes to change something is a group of people who care and have an idea on how to change things. Together we can do anything.
