At first I had a little trouble deciding what I want to do my research paper over, but after some thought I have decided to do it over social classes. I want to do research on the different types of social classes not only in our country but also in other countries. I want to see how social class affects people's lives. I would also like to research ancient social classes. I already know a little about how it can affect people's success and their life but I want to find out more. I know that it has impacted me by the things I can have and do. Even though it has affected me, it has not got in my way too much.

Mulit-Genre Project Reflection
I read through the projects and the one that stuck out to me was the one about fairy tales. Of course it did. I am in love with fairy tales. But I didn't like this one. That's not why it stuck out to me. It stuck out because it made me mad. The girl who worked on this project was talking about how they weren't true and how they showed young women that they NEEDED a man to come and "save them." I agree that they aren't true and they aren't even realistic but as girls grow up they realize that life isn't a fairy tale. She also talked about how the stories always end in happily ever after. She said that life doesn't end in a happily ever after. Yes life isn't like a fairy tale so of course it wouldn't end in ever happiness. Happiness is a choice. You may even have to work at it a little bit. Life is not a fairy tale but they do make little girls and may be even adults happy.
I have an idea to do a project and research on the second goal in the millennium goals. I want to do it about the success rate of educated kids and non-educated kids. This is just my first idea. It may change.

Millennium Goal #2: Primary Education
I chose
the second goal of the Millennium Development Goals because it has the do with
primary school and as I said in my last blog post I had a passion for teaching
elementary students. So of course I was going to pick the goal that had to do
educating the kids around the world.
The major
goal, of course, is to get kids into school. Some of the goals to achieve the grand
goal are to build more schools so it is easier for the kids to come to school.
The next goal is teach the kids how to read and write. Millennium says, “Even after
four years of primary schooling, as many as 250 million children cannot read
and write, worldwide…….Going to school is not enough; improving learning is
critical.” Next, they want try and stop kids from leaving school early. Some
places that have been successful in these goals are Afghanistan, Bangladesh,
Cambodia, Brazil, Guatemala, and the United Republic of Tanzania. Most of these
places are giving the kids money to come to school somewhere different than
where they normally live.
I think
this is a really cool idea. Education helps with being successful in life and in the worl we live in today. All it takes to change something is a group of
people who care and have an idea on how to change things. Together we can do anything.

Article Reponse #2
The
next story is OAK(ordinary acts of kindness) lifestyle. Jessica Sjolseth is the founder of Oak lifestyle. OAK sales backpacks and every
bag that is sold another backpack and school supplies is given to a kid. They
want the kids to have a successful school life so they can succeed. Another goal of theirs is to give the kids a
boost to let them know that they can succeed.
The
last story is Do Good Buy Us. Zach Rosenberg is the founder of Do Good Buy Us. They
are a website that sales all sorts of different products. There goods are sold
to give money for nonprofit organizations. They don’t directly help people in
need but they do help organizations that do.
My
passion would have to be little kids and teaching them the basics such has
reading, writing, and math. This has been my passion for my entire high school
career. I have always wanted to be an elementary teacher since I was in
elementary school. The first story caught my attention because it has to do
with my passion. The organization helps kids learn how to read. The second
story also has to with my passion by giving kids a good start at school by
being prepared. The last story was one that doesn't have to do with my passion
but I thought was cool because it didn't directly affect people in need but
helped them by helping the other organizations at succeeding.
If I
didn't have to worry about money I would still be a teacher. I have wanted to
be a teacher for so long I can’t think of doing anything else. This would
involve helping kids to the best of my ability with any kind of educational
problems they had. I would help them succeed in school.

Article 1 Response
When I
was reading the article, I decided I had trouble with bad parallelism, verb
tenses, and dangling conversation. The one I straggle
with the most is the verb tenses. I have a hard time knowing which lay to use
along with other verbs. The examples the writer used were, “I’m tired, so I
need to lay down,” or , “Honey, I shrunk the kids(Ben Yadoga).” This article
was fairly simple to read. The writer did a good job of describing what he was
talking about. I didn't feel lost. My brain did feel a little over loaded.
I thought
this was a very well written piece. It
was very informational. The writer wrote about seven common grammar mistakes
people have in writing that are very simple mistakes. The seven mistakes were
the subjunctive, bad parallelism, verb problems, pronoun problems, ‘dangling’
conversation, semicolon, and words. He then told the reader how to fix them. He seem to know what he was talking about. He was also speaking from experience.

Pecha Kucha Response
The presenter had pictures that helped tell her story and what she was trying to get across. She explained each picture and moved on when the picture moved even though she wasn't necessarily done with the slide. She moved and at fast pace and knew what she wanted to say.
The presenter talked at a fast pace. She didn't have to stop and think about what she wanted to say. She did have quite a few words on some of the slides but not all of the slides had words on them. The pictures helped the story.
I like the Pecha Kucha. It isn't very long and you don't have to worry about changing the slides. I also like that it isn't your whole presentation. It just helps in the presenting. I fill I can fill the ten slides with pictures that help me to explain my topic.

Only One Child?
I have always been curious
about the one child law in China. I have known college students who have come
over from China to America to go to school in the U.S. They have tried to
explain the law but I am still confused after they are finished explaining.
Therefore, I chose to research the one child law.
The law states that
each couple can have one child (or two for ethnic minorities and for rural couples whose first child is a girl) (Scutti). If the couple has another child the fine is three to ten times
the household’s annual income (Scutti). The fine is called social compensation fee (Scutti). This
fee is more for the rich. For the poor it is a flesh and blood tiger (Scutti). The
people on farms in the country side need extra hands to work in the fields. Because of the law, they have to pay people to help instead of having lots of children. According to Chinses officals, the guidelines helped avert 400 million births and in so doing, accelerated modernization (Scutti). But they are making an amendment to the law, allowing couples to have two children if either parent is an only child (formerly, the law permitted two children only if both parents were singletons) (Scutti). In China, 336 million abortions and 222 million sterilizations have been carried
out since 1971 (though the one-child policy was introduced in 1979, other,
less-stringent family planning policies were in place before it)(Jian).
The law may have helped with the population but may not in the right way. The amount of abortions is too much to handle. 336 million lives have been taken since 1971 and the lives that were taken were little helpless babies that had not been born (Jian). Another problem is when the child gets older it has two sets of grandparents and a set of parents to taken care of all by themselves. This is not a one man job. The new amendment may help with these problems in China but only time will tell.
